As a 1K® you are entitled to the most generous Mileage Plus® upgrade privileges and highest priority on United.
Earn unlimited Systemwide Upgrades
As a thank you for achieving Mileage Plus 1K status, you will receive six (6) Systemwide Upgrades, valid anywhere United® or United Express® flies. You will also receive two (2) additional Systemwide Upgrades for every 50,000 EQM or 50 EQS earned, starting at 150,000 EQM or 150 EQS in a calendar year- with no limit to how many you can earn.
Regional Upgrades
Once you achieve 1K status, you'll receive two (2) Regional Upgrades for each quarter in which you fly at least 10,000 paid, qualifying miles on United or United Express. These versatile upgrades can be used on all domestic routes, including transcontinental p.s.® and Hawaii flights, and to many international destinations. Regional Upgrades are valid for travel within the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.
Unlimited Domestic Upgrades
We'll automatically request an Unlimited Domestic Upgrade on behalf of all elite members traveling within the continental U.S., Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America. We'll also request an upgrade for up to one companion traveling on the same reservation.
Unlimited Domestic Upgrades are confirmed in the following order, at the following times before departure, based on availability:

Mileage Plus Upgrade Awards
If you'd like to confirm your upgrade earlier, you may use a Mileage Plus Upgrade Award. This upgrade can be confirmed as early as you request it-even at the time of ticketing.
As an elite member, you will not be charged a co-pay when you use your miles for a Mileage Plus Upgrade Award on flights within the continental U.S., Alaska and Canada.
